Biography
Research:
During my stay at the Interdisciplinary Center for the History of Science and Technology, I will compare Book 1 of Euclid's Elements across several textual versions of the Arabic translations of the Greek foundational work. The aim of this investigation is to determine whether there is indeed a remnant of an independent translation by Ishaq ibn Hunayn in the edition by Thabit ibn Qurra, or whether the attribution of this book to these two scholars from approximately the second half of the ninth century is historically mistaken, and Book 1 likewise stems from the work of al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf ibn Matar from the late eighth and early ninth century.
